Pennsylvania, Virginia Fugitives Are Arrested in Arizona

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) - Federal authorities say fugitives wanted in Pennsylvania and Virginia have been arrested in Arizona.

The U.S. Marshals Service says 39-year-old Olman Solano was taken into custody Wednesday morning at a Phoenix hotel.

They say Solano is wanted by the Nanticoke Police Department in Pennsylvania for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and other sex-related offenses that allegedly occurred last month.

Authorities say 19-year-old Damadre Wheeler was arrested Wednesday at a home in Glendale.

Wheeler was wanted by the Norfolk Police Department in Virginia for failure to appear in court on strangulation charges.

Norfolk police arrested Wheeler in August after he allegedly strangled his then-girlfriend so severely that he caused her to blackout for a brief period.

He fled Virginia after posting bond.

Authorities say Solano and Wheeler now are awaiting extradition.
