Md. Man Arrested in Arson That Hurt Firefighter

BALTIMORE (AP)- A Harford County man has been charged with attempted murder and arson in a fire that injured a firefighter on Christmas morning.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says 32-year-old Nicholas Lester of Forest Hill was arrested after telling deputies he set his house on fire just before 3 a.m. Thursday.

A firefighter hurt his leg after he fell through a heavily damaged staircase while fighting the fire. Two adults and a child were in the basement apartment in the home at the time of the fire but weren't hurt.

Lester was charged with arson, attempted murder, reckless endangerment and malicious burning. No attorney was listed for him in online court records.
