Easton Ready for Crab Drop and Global Recognition

Posted:
EASTON, Md.- It's an event many people in Easton look forward to every year:  First Night Talbot County.

Marie U'Ren is one of many working to pull off this year's event.  But what is First Night all about you might ask.

"You can expect lots of entertainment, lots of and activities, it's an arts festival basically to celebrate the new year," said U'Ren.

It's a dry event, with a focus on children and families.  There are arts and crafts, you can visit the giant mermaid Sirena, and who could forget the famous crab drop.

"The crab is such a unique thing.  He's big, you'll find all sorts of people standing there and getting their picture taken with him and the little kids are petting him and it's really cute small town atmosphere," said U'Ren.

Right at the heart of the action is Jordan Lloyd's restaurant, the Bartlett Pear Inn.  He's especially excited this year because tonight, CNN will be breaking in live with WBOC's own Lindsay Tuchman, showing off Easton to the world for their new year's special.

"We know how beautiful our community is, but it's so neat to be recognized by such a national brand, saying that they want to spend their new years with us.  That's unbelievable," said Lloyd.

Everyone here is ready to drop the crab, and put their best foot forward.
