A patient's active participation in treatment, with full understanding of all issues, is vital to your satisfaction and recovery. You will know what to expect at each stage, from before your surgery is scheduled until you are well on your way to recovery.

Prior to surgery, patients and their families will meet with members of the team. They will have the opportunity to discuss any concerns and will be encouraged to ask questions. A team member will discuss each step of the recovery process with you, including information on:

  • initial orthopaedic evaluation

  • the surgical procedure

  • your hospital stay

  • equipment and precautions following joint replacement

  • post surgical treatment and therapy
Brochures, checklists and videos are available to provide a handy reference at home and throughout your rehabilitation process.

We realize that joint replacement patients aren't sick; they simply want a better quality of life. We treat our patients more like guests with the safety and security of a licensed, accredited hospital. It starts with the Center's eight private rooms, a small enough area to provide the utmost personal attention to every patients' needs. This continues with our efforts to make you more comfortable, such as: a staff member to greet you at the door to carry your luggage, you being able to wear your own clothes, a refrigerator in each room, and many other amenities not available to a regular patient.

Throughout your stay, a registered nurse is always just a call bell away. Assisting the nursing staff is an orthopaedic technician who will assist you with any special non-nursing requests you may have.

A support network is important after major surgery. Joint replacement patients are provided private rooms so family members, friends, and caregivers can participate in the recovery process and stay overnight if they wish.

After surgery, patients begin rehabilitation in a positive, stress free environment. Just a few feet away from your door you'll find the Physical/Occupational therapy center for your individualized exercise and mobility training. Most patients are out of bed and walking the day after surgery.
