More Charges Possible for Three Arrested in Oct. Home Invasion

Posted:
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. -  More charges are possible for the three men arrested for a home invasion in October in Wicomico County following the death of one of the victims.

Police said Ulysses and Doris Polk were at home in bed on October 6th, of 2014 in their home in Eden, Wicomico County.  Police said three young men stormed into their home demanding money and car keys from the elderly couple.  According to investigators, Ulysses Polk was struck in the head with a pistol.  Polk was treated and released from the hospital.

Davonte Beckette, 19, of Eden, along with Lanire Bright, 19, and Marquavis McCuller, 20, of Princess Anne were arrested and charged for the crime.  Each of them are facing numerous charges including home invasion, armed robbery, and first degree assault.

Wicomico County State's Attorney Matt Maciarello confirms for WBOC that recently, Ulysses Polk developed seizures and passed away on December, 31st as a result of the seizures.  Maciarello told WBOC that he is waiting for the report from the state medical examiner's office on whether the assault back in October is responsible for the seizures and ultimately Polk's death.

If the assault did in fact lead to the seizures and Polk's death, Maciarello said the three men who were arrested could face more charges, including murder.  Maciarello said it could take up to three weeks for the medical examiner's report to be complete and sent to his office.

Ulysses Polk will be buried Saturday afternoon in Allen.
