Harrington Man Arrested on Burglary Charges

HARRINGTON, Del. - The Harrington Police Department say a Harrington man was arrested Wednesday for burglary and related charges after they say he tried to steal from a building he used to live in.

Police say around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to an apartment building in the first block of North Street in Harrington for a report of a burglary in progress. Police say they arrived on the scene and interviewed a witness and a victim. They say the witness identified the suspect as 23-year-old Timothy M. Brown, of Harrington.

Police say the witness was familiar with Brown because Brown used to live in the apartment building and was recently removed from the property and prohibited from being on the property. Police say the witness provided a description of Brown which prompted officers to search the area.

Brown was found on Center Street in the area of Second Avenue and taken into custody, according to police.

While searching Brown, police say they found stolen property belonging to the victim that was taken during the burglary. They also found drug paraphernalia.

Police say the stolen property was returned to the victim and Brown was taken to the Harrington Police Department for processing. Police say officers ran a computer check on Brown and discovered he was also wanted by Kent County Superior Court for an unrelated charge.

Brown was charged with second degree burglary, two counts of theft under $1,500 and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $5,000 cash only bail and $4,600 secured bail.
