Dover Man Charged with Third Offense DUI After Crash

DOVER, Del.- Police say a Dover man has been charged with his third offense DUI and vehicular assault following a three-car crash on Saturday afternoon. 

Dover police said that shortly before 3 p.m., officers responded to a report of the accident with injuries in the area of Walker and Saulsbury roads. Police an investigation revealed that a maroon 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, operated by 35-year-old Antoine Collier, was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed as it approached the Saulsbury Road intersection. 

According to investigators, a 2013 Nissan Altima was stopped behind a 2002 Jeep Cherokee at the intersection, also facing westbound. Police said the vehicle operated by Collier struck the rear of the Nissan Altima, forcing that vehicle into the rear of the Jeep Cherokee. 

The operator of the Altima suffered injuries to her back and abdomen and was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for treatment, authorities said. 

Police said Collier showed signs of heavy intoxication and was arrested fsecond-degree vehicular assault. He was also charged with third offense DUI after it was learned that he had prior DUI conviction in September of 2001 and June of 2013. He was additionally cited for driving with a revoked license. 

Collier was released by Justice of the Peace Court 7 after posting a $1,900 secured bond.
