CLAYMONT, Del. (AP/WBOC) - Delaware State Police say a man was fatally injured when he was struck by two cars while trying to cross a street in Claymont.
It happened about 6:25 a.m. Monday on Naamans Road at Society Drive. Troopers say a 69-year-old Claymont man tried to cross Naamans Road in the crosswalk against the light.
Police say the man was hit by one car, which knocked him to the ground; then a second vehicle hit him. Police say the first vehicle drove off, but the driver of the second vehicle stopped and remained at the scene.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Naamans Road at Society Drive was closed for approximately 2.5 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
The incident is under investigation.
