HARRINGTON, Del. – Harrington police say officers seized more than three pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop.

It happened Sunday at 11:32 p.m. on South DuPont Highway.

Police say they stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and an officer smelled marijuana coming from the car.

Police say they then searched the vehicle, driven by Robert Brown, 43, of Virginia Beach, Va., and found 22 bags of marijuana, totaling 3.1 pounds. Authorities say they also located drug paraphernalia.

After doing a computer check on Brown, police found he had previous drug convictions dating back to 2003.

Brown was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and traffic violations.

Police say they seized Brown's vehicle.

He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $6,203 secured bail.
