WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware Attorney General Matt Denn is proposing that state government invest millions of dollars to help the state's most economically distressed and crime-stricken areas.

Denn was scheduled to discuss details of his plan on Wednesday at a press conference in Wilmington.

Gov. Jack Markell, cabinet secretaries and state and local elected officials were also scheduled to attend.

Officials say the proposal would use money from Delaware's share of a nationwide settlement involving Bank of America related to the 2008 financial crisis.

The plan calls for allocating $36 million for a variety of initiatives, including substance abuse programs, community policing, prison re-entry programs, high-poverty schools and affordable housing.
