Virginia Youth Conservation Corps Accepting Applications

RICHMOND, Va. (AP)- The Virginia State Parks Youth Conservation Corps is accepting applications for two summer sessions.

The sessions are scheduled June 21 to July 11 and July 19 to Aug. 8. Participants will help with various park projects, including wildlife and fisheries habitat improvement, and trail and campground construction and restoration, timber and shoreline improvement.

High school students between the ages of 14 and 17 can submit applications through April 15. Participants must be at 14 years or older by June 1.

Teams of eight to 10 participants will be chosen. Those chosen will be notified by email by May 1.

Participants will receive a $500 stipend at the end of the three-week program.
