REHOBOTH, Del. -- Delaware State Police are investigating a string of burglaries at an upscale private community in Sussex County that happened on Jan. 27.

Four unoccupied homes had televisions, jewelry, cash and other items stolen from properties located on Kenmare and Doolin Ct. late Tuesday night.

Homeowners in the complex said they often check on each other's homes, especially for the owners who only live in the complex part-time.

Mike Donovan, a Kinsale Glen owner of two years, said the burglaries are unheard of in the neighborhood.

"It's very surprising. Nothing like this happens around here," said Donovan.

The homeowner said at least half of the residents live at Kinsale Glen full-time, while the others usually spend summers or weekends at the homes.

"People come by on the weekends. Some people just don't come by at all during the winter time, very rarely," said Donovan.

Jodie Boudreaux was one of the homeowners targeted since she mainly lives in Washington, D.C. and comes to Rehoboth for summer and vacations.

WBOC met Boudreaux just as she pulled into her driveway to enter her home for the first time since the burglary.

Boudreaux found two bedrooms in disarray with jewelry, trinkets and other personal items strewn about the room.

The burglars made off with $500 from Boudreaux's bedroom that she kept in her dresser for emergency situations.

"I haven't been able to go through everything yet, but I can tell there was some jewelry, necklaces, and watches and whatnot," said Boudreaux.

No arrests have been made.

Drivers, Business Owners Frustrated with Lane Closures Near Dover Bridge

Ever since the Dover Bridge area started construction, one business, which sits just at the end of the bridge, has lost nearly $60,000 each year.

Now with traffic down to just one lane as workers get ready to start pipework, that business' owner says it likely won't get better.
