Del. State Police Call for Public's Help in Cold Case Double Homicide

Posted:
MILLSBORO, Del. - The Delaware State Police Department is calling on the public to help find a killer.

On January 14, 2014 a family member found the bodies of 27-year old William Hopkins and 29-year old Cletis Nelson in a home on Harmons Hill Road in Millsboro. In the days after the bodies were found, police combed through the home searching for clues and evidence. Nonetheless, more than a year later, no arrests have been made.

More information can be found in WBOC's original 2014 article.

"Detectives continue to search for the suspects in this case," said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police on Monday. "And want to remind people they can submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers or by simply contacting Detective Chambers directly."

Fournier said monetary rewards are one technique used to entice people into talking about the crime.

"Information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects may result in a reward of up to $1,000," he explained.

Many neighbors said that it was concerning that all this time later, no arrests have been made. Patricia Limmer, who lives on Harmons Hill Road, said it was frightening to imagine that the killer is still out there.

"The doors are locked," she said. "Double locked. And it's cause you're never really sure. If we don't know why they were killed - we don't know if they'll come back again or what's going on."

Another neighbor, William Seidel, had a different reaction to the January shooting.

"I kept my gun loaded," he said.

Seidel said he was glad the police were offering the reward.

"I hope they get a lead," he said. "And they can make an arrest here because the man shouldn't be out running around. He's dangerous. Is he going to do it again?"

If you want to offer an anonymous tip, you can do so in multiple ways.

A house is making its way into the bay near Fenwick Island and boaters warn against the dangers of debris in the water.

Robert Mitchell, The Director of Environmental Programs for Worcester County, said that nearly 500 acres of land was given to them in a deed.

Little did they know there would be a small house located on one of the many islands they acquired. A house, that they soon found out, is sinking into the water.
