WILMINGTON, Del. (AP/WBOC) - Interstate 495 in Wilmington is back to normal, after it was partially closed for 3.5 hours following a Friday morning accident.

The raised bed of a dump truck hit an overpass on I-495, injuring the driver.

Delaware State Police say it's unclear why the dump truck's bed was raised when it hit the underside of a bridge overpass in the southbound lanes of the interstate early Friday morning.

Police say the truck bed detached from the tractor portion, which hit a guardrail in the center median before turning on its side in the oncoming lanes of traffic. No other cars were involved in the crash.

Police say the dump truck driver, David Strutton, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and cited for careless driving.

All lanes of the interstate were closed or partially closed for about 3.5 after the crash.
