SALISBURY, Md.- With Delmarva feeling some of the coldest temperatures of the season over the next few days, the Hope and Life Outreach shelter in Salisbury has opened additional, temporary space for men, women and children, and is offering extended hours for the HALO Day Facility.

The shelter is located at 119 South Boulevard, behind the Giant supermarket. According to HALO, walk-ins will be welcome, but anyone wanting to secure a space can call (410) 742-9356. The shelter is also asking for donations of blankets/sheets to accommodate the extra guests.

Those needing shelter from the cold can show up for dinner at 6 p.m., and will be registered by 7 p.m. The extra space will be available Thursday night through Saturday, Feb. 21.

Additionally, the HALO Day Facility is open Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and will be open Monday through Friday with extended hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

HALO Executive Director Celeste Savage said the rotating cold weather shelter - which is held at various churches in the Salisbury area - is full. HALO has also been full, according to Savage, who said that is why the shelter is making extra space available in anticipation of the extreme cold weather.

HALO is a Christ-centered faith-based ministry that provides programs and services for the homeless and others in need in the community.
