Harris Teeter in Bethany Beach Closing its Doors

Posted: Updated:
BETHANY BEACH, Del.- The Salt Pond Harris Teeter store is closing its doors in Bethany Beach later this month, according to the company.

Harris Teeter began making the announcement to the store's 39 employees on Tuesday. The company said the store, located in the Salt Pond Plaza at 695 Bethany Look Way will officially close on Feb. 24.

A statement from Harris Teeter headquarters stated, "The decision to close the store was only made after careful consideration."

The company said in the coming weeks, it will work closely with the employees to assist them through the closing process and employees will have the opportunity to transfer to other Harris Teeter stores, including the Bayside Village location in Selbyville.

The company says signs were posted at the store informing customers of the decision.

Harris Teeter opened nine stores in 2014 and said it anticipates opening nine new locations during the 2015 calendar year. These stores will be in North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina
