Delaware Panel Eyes Effects of Climate Change

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - A Delaware climate change panel that faced a December reporting deadline is continuing its work.

The Governor's Committee on Climate and Resiliency was charged by an executive order from Gov. Jack Markell in 2013 with studying and preparing for climate change impacts in Delaware.

The panel, which had a Dec. 31 reporting deadline, is meeting again Friday in Dover, with reports from various working groups and an update on outreach efforts.

The committee's responsibilities include overseeing development of a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in a way that benefits the economy.

It's also looked at recommendations for improving Delaware's preparedness for climate impacts on public health and safety, infrastructure and facilities, natural resources and business.
