Delaware Still Digging Out

Posted:
MILTON, Del.- After Tuesday morning's heavy snowfall, Delawareans are still digging out of their homes and businesses, and many are helping others as well.

Andrea Collins and Shannon Layton, both 14 years old and from Georgetown, didn't have school Wednesday. However, instead of playing in the snow, they decided to get the shovels out.

"We're shoveling the snow because we just wanted to do it for fun so we decided to dig a lot of snow so then the people that ride the buses can get down to the bus lane," Collins said.

And Layton agreed, helping others is not a chore.

"We like race to get it done," she said.

Many roads are clear, and now people are clearing their driveways out as well since businesses are open.

Luther Plagett helped the pastor at his church get into the parking lot as they get ready to open for services. It's hard work, but Plagett, like the two girls, is happy to help shovel.

"Ever since this snow started falling," he explained. "I'm used to it, so it don't even bother me!"

But if more snow is on the way, that could mean more work for these happy helpers.
