WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican officials are lobbying Florida Sen. Marco Rubio to seek re-election next year even though he says he'll forgo that campaign if he makes a bid for the White House.
Officials familiar with the effort say that recruiting Rubio to seek re-election is a top priority at the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
But so far despite the pressure Rubio says he's not changed his mind to seek only one office next year.
In an interview Thursday he said that if he runs for president that's where his focus will be.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations.
