Former Del. Daycare Owner Charged with Sex Offenses

Posted:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - A former Dover daycare owner is being charged with sex offenses involving young girls stemming from the late 1990s.

Dover police say two 22-year-old women reported in January that they had been sexually abused while attending Village Kids Daycare Center as girls. Police say one of the women says she was sexually abused at least three times when she was 4 years old.

The other woman said she abused for two years beginning when she was 6.

On Friday, police arrested the owner of the daycare, 67-year-old William Semonavick Jr., on charges of unlawful sexual intercourse and contact, and continuous sexual abuse of a child. Semonavick, who was released on bond, didn't return a call for comment Monday.

Records show the now-shuttered daycare was licensed between 1995 and 2008.

However, Zalewski claims he was told by Kent County the frogs would be classified as dangerous animals, even though he said the amphibians are not poisonous when held in captivity. "I'd put one in my mouth or whatever. They're completely harmless," he said. Kent Co...
