SEAFORD, Del.- Delaware State Police say a Monday morning crash involving a Seaford School District School bus sent seven students to the hospital for minor injuries.

Police said that just after 9 a.m. the bus was heading northbound on Sussex Highway just south of Cannon Road when it stopped for a traffic light. Troopers said when it began to move forward once the light turned green, a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox, operated by a 17-year-old girl, struck the rear of the bus.

According to police, both vehicles were able to come to a stop in the travel lane of Route 13.

Troopers said the driver of the bus, a 29-year-old Seaford woman, was uninjured in the crash. Seven students on board the bus at the time were later transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being evaluated by medical personnel at Seaford High School. Police said the ages of the students ranged from 12-17.

Troopers said the 17-year-old driver was uninjured and was wearing her seat belt at the time of the collision. She was cited for careless driving and failure to have insurance in her possession.
