BERLIN, Md. – Autorities say a Berlin man faces charges after he assaulted another man and a police officer.

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office said that on Feb. 26 deputies responded to a home on Cedar Lane regarding a fight that was in progress.

Deputies said when they arrived on the scene, they located a man who was complaining of pain in his shoulder and had blood on his face. The victim's clothes were in disarray and it was evident a fight occurred, police said.

According to police, the victim stated that Kevin Ray Cropper, 32, had assaulted him and shoved another family member down across furniture, which resulted in a dislocated shoulder.

Police said that while investigating the dispute, Cropper was located a short distance from the scene and he lunged at a deputy and assaulted the deputy.

Cropper was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree assault, second-degree assault of a law enforcement officer and reckless endangerment. Cropper was held on no bond at the Worcester County Jail.
