Fight in Worcester County Leads to Man's Arrest

BERLIN, Md. – Autorities say a Berlin man faces charges after he assaulted another man and a police officer.

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office said that on Feb. 26 deputies responded to a home on Cedar Lane regarding a fight that was in progress.

Deputies said when they arrived on the scene, they located a man who was complaining of pain in his shoulder and had blood on his face. The victim's clothes were in disarray and it was evident a fight occurred, police said. 

According to police, the victim stated that Kevin Ray Cropper, 32, had assaulted him and shoved another family member down across furniture, which resulted in a dislocated shoulder.

Police said that while investigating the dispute, Cropper was located a short distance from the scene and he lunged at a deputy and assaulted the deputy.

Cropper was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree assault, second-degree assault of a law enforcement officer and reckless endangerment. Cropper was held on no bond at the Worcester County Jail.

    Salisbury Bypass Detour to Reopen Thursday

    The State Highway Administration estimates the Salisbury Bypass detour will reopen on Thursday. 

    The construction to the bridge over US 13 is scheduled to finish this week and will allow traffic to head southbound on the bypass. 

    The detour's closure will also allow SHA to remove the temporary traffic signals on Naylor Mill Road.
