Storm Prep Tips from Dover Police

Posted:
DOVER, Del.- The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning beginning Wednesday at 11 p.m. and lasting through Thursday at 7 p.m., with expected snow accumulations of 6 to 9 inches. According to Dover police, the Dover area should expect all day Wednesday, with precipitation changing to snow overnight as the temperature drops.

The Dover Police Department is reminding citizens that it will be operating normally and snow routes will need to be cleared of cars or owners will face a penalty. Those streets include: Division Street, Water Street, Governors Avenue, and State Street. Police are also strongly advising against travel during inclement weather.

Police also suggest citizens should stock up on supplies before the storm. Water, food, flashlights, batteries, pet and baby supplies, warm clothing, and a first aid kit are some of the suggested items.

The Animal Control Unit of Dover urges citizens to bring pets inside, or at least, provide outdoor animals with adequate shelter. Animal Control will be patrolling the city. Animals found inadequately protected will be seized and owners will be penalized.
