FEDERALSBURG, Md. -  The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a fire at a chicken house in Federalsburg.

It happened just before noon Wednesday on Reliance Road, according to fire officials.

The Fire Marshal says it took 20 firefighters from Eldorado, Brookview, Federalsbug, Preston, and Sharptown Fire Companies about a half an hour to put out the flames.

An investigation is still underway, but fire officials say a preliminary investigation has ruled the cause of the fire as accidental. The State Fire Marshal says an electrical outlet failed, which then set the insulation on fire inside the chicken house.

No injuries were reported, but officials say the fire caused roughly $10,000 in damages.
