Police Investigate a Fatal Crash in Easton


EASTON, Md.- Police in Talbot County are investigating a fatal crash in Easton.

Officials say it happened around 10:15 a.m. on March 14 on the Easton Bypass at South Washington Street.

Based on the initial investigation, police say Renee Diane Hester of Easton was driving a Chrysler Lebaron and crossed the south and north bound lanes of the Easton Bypass into the direct path of a Ford Econoline, driven by Richard Lee Carroll of Trappe. Police say Hester failed to yield.

According to police, Helen Diane Brittingham was a passenger in the Lebaron, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both drivers were taken to Easton Memorial Hospital. Hester is listed as stable and has been admitted for further observation. Carroll was treated and released.

Easton Police Department's Crash Reconstruction Unit will complete a reconstruction of scene.

The portion of RT322 remained closed to traffic for three and a half hours during the investigation.
