Salisbury Police Find Shotgun and Live Rounds During Traffic Stop

SALISBURY, Md. – Two Salisbury men have been arrested and charged after police say they found drugs and illegal firearms in their vehicle during a traffic stop Saturday night.

According to Salisbury officers who conducted the stop, it happened around 10:20 p.m. in the area of Delaware Avenue and Mack Avenue in Salisbury.

Police say 39-year-old Bonzie Lee Curtis, Jr. (left), was driving, and 21-year-old Bonzie Lee Curtis, III (right), was the passenger.

During the investigation, a drug-detecting K-9 alerted officers to controlled, dangerous substances in the vehicle.

Police say a thorough search of the driver and vehicle turned up 20 grams of crack cocaine, several live shotgun rounds, an illegal sawed-off shotgun and additional ammunition.

The older man was charged with possession of narcotics with the intent to distribute, possession of a controlled, dangerous substance (CDS), illegal possession of a regulated firearm and possession of a firearm with a drug trafficking crime.

The younger man was charged with illegal possession of a regulated firearm.
