Construction on I-95 to Cause Major Traffic Disruption

Posted:

BALTIMORE (AP) - Transportation officials say road repair work on a 4.4-mile stretch of Interstate 95 in Baltimore will cause major traffic disruptions for months.

Work on I-95 between the Fort McHenry Tunnel and Caton Avenue is set to get underway on Sunday and continue into the fall.

The $64 million project includes removing and replacing the existing concrete deck driving surface and roadway joints. The work will bring lane closures, shifted or split traffic conditions, ramp closures with detours, reduced lane widths and the elimination of shoulders.

Transportation Secretary Pete K. Rahn warned of "major gridlock" in a notice posted on the State Highway Administration's website that. He urged that commuters avoid I-95 during the construction work.
