SALISBURY, Md.- A Tuesday night camper fire in Salisbury put a 60-year-old man in the hospital for smoke inhalation, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.

The Delmar Fire Department responded to the call just after 8 p.m. Monday on Adkins Road. When firefighters arrived on scene, authorities say the 30-foot Fleetwood camper was on fire.

According to officials, Bruce Singleton was in the structure at the time and initially refused treatment at the scene. However, he was later transported by EMS to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Officials said there were five firefighters on the scene and it took crews about 15 minutes to control the fire.

Authorities said the fire, which caused about $2,000 in damage, was ruled accidental. They said it was sparked by candles which ignited nearby combustibles.
