PIKESVILLE, Md. (AP) - Gov. Larry Hogan says he will add 100 state police officers to the force.

Hogan also announced Thursday he plans to reopen the state police barracks in Annapolis as soon as possible.

Hogan says he plans to include $8.2 million in a supplemental budget for the additional officers and to reopen the barracks.

Hogan says the added officers will boost state police numbers to a level Maryland hasn't seen in about a dozen years.

The governor made the announcement at the swearing on ceremony of Col. William Pallozzi, the new state police superintendent.
