SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man charged with fatally shooting his mother on Christmas Day has been found not competent to stand trial, according to the Wicomico County State's Attorney's Office.

Jack Braboy, 23, is charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and related firearms offenses.

The shooting happened on the 1200 block of Kiowa Avenue in Salisbury on Dec. 25.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said the victim, Mary Denise Alonzo, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where she died the following day.

There is no word yet on why Braboy was ruled incompetent to stand trial during Thursday's hearing. However, online court records show he is currently being held in the Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center, a 250-bed maximum-security psychiatric hospital in Jessup, Md.

The State's Attorney's Office said another hearing for Braboy is scheduled for April 10.
