Paul Torgersen, Former Va. Tech President, Dies at 83

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Former Virginia Tech President Paul Torgersen has died. He was 83.

University spokesman Larry Hincker said Torgersen died Sunday night. The cause of death was not immediately released. Hincker said Torgersen had experienced two bouts of cancer.

Torgersen served for two decades as dean of the College of Engineering before becoming Virginia Tech's 14th president in 1993. The university's Advanced Communications Information Technology Center building was named Torgersen Hall after he retired in 2000.

His wife of 60 years, Dorothea "Dot" Torgersen, died in October.

    Crisfield High School Nurse Arrested on Child Sex Charges

    A woman who worked as a school nurse at Crisfield High School & Academy has been arrested and charged with sexual offenses involving four high school students, Maryland State Police said Wednesday.

    Samantha Marsh, 33, of Crisfield, is charged with 10 counts of fourth-degree sex offense, four counts of perverted practice, four counts of contributing to the condition of a child and one count of attempted fourth-degree sex offense.
