Easton Police arrest Keith Jewell, 33, of Essex, Md., Saturday after finding trace amounts of drugs during a traffic stop on Ocean Gateway.
PERRYVILLE, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police say a North Carolina man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 95 led to the discovery of hundreds of packets of heroin.
Police say a trooper stopped a GMC Acadia on northbound I-95 in Cecil County for having an expired registration plate on Wednesday. Police searched the SUV after police say a drug detection dog gave a positive alert. That's when police say they found two packages of heroin in the headliner.
Inside the packages, police say they found 750 individually wrapped wax bags of heroin worth an estimated $15,000.
Police charged 29-year-old Kerry Hampton of Fayetteville, North Carolina, with importation of heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin and possession of heroin. He was ordered held on $150,000 bond.
