Report Cites Multiple Failures in Rolling Stone Rape Article

RICHMOND, Va. (AP)- Rolling Stone magazine is promising to improve its editorial practices following a top journalism school's scathing review of a widely discredited story about an alleged college rape. But it is not firing any of the people responsible for the mistakes.

The Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism issued a report Sunday night calling the November 2014 story "A Rape on Campus" a "story of journalistic failure that was avoidable."

Rolling Stone Managing Editor Will Dana issued an apology on the website and the author, Sabrina Rubin Erdely, issued a separate apology.

The magazine's publisher, Jann S. Wenner, however, told The New York Times that Erdely would continue to write for the magazine and that neither her editor nor Dana would be fired.
