5 WWII Vets from Va. Inducted into French Legion of Honor

RICHMOND, Va. (AP)- Five World War II veterans from Virginia have been recognized for helping liberate France from Nazi German occupation.

France's ambassador to the U.S., Gerard Araud, inducted the five into the French Legion of Honor on Wednesday at the Virginia War Memorial in Richmond.

Media outlets report those honored were John L. Burke of Richmond, David W. Harvey of Stuarts Draft, Robert Harris of Newport News, Talmadge Mitchell of Martinsville and Ernie Shumaker of Bridgewater.
