MILTON, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating after vandals struck at a historic church in Milton, resulting in tens of thousands of dollars in damage to the building.

Members of Whites's Chapel United Methodist Church on Route 1 on Friday morning discovered 11 windows to the building had been smashed and the front glass door damaged. None of the windows were stained glass and no further damage was reported. But there is a substantial amount of broken glass to clean up and windows that need to be replaced.

The vandals caused an estimated $40,000 and $50,000 in monetary damage to the building, church members said.

Police are calling this an act of criminal mischief. No arrests have been made yet.
