Baltimore Police Release Timeline After Man Hurt in Custody

BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore police have released a timeline of events leading up to the hospitalization of a man injured during an encounter with four police officers.

Police say four officers on bike patrol stopped the man, identified by relatives as Freddie Gray, at 8:39 a.m. on Sunday. Police say Gray tried to run away, but one minute later officers were able to catch and arrest him. Police say at 8:54, Gray was placed in a prisoner transport wagon bound for a police station. Thirty minutes later, at 9:24, police say they called an ambulance for transport from the station house.

Relatives said on Tuesday that Gray had spinal injuries and was in critical condition at Shock Trauma.

The incident is under investigation, and the officers have been placed on routine administrative leave.
