Police: Man Dies in Custody, Stun Gun Used During Arrest

Posted:

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP)- Authorities say a man has died in police custody after officers used a stun gun as they arrested him during a break-in call.

Hagerstown police say officers responding to a 911 call reporting a break-in on Thursday night found a "highly agitated" man in front of the house. Believing the man was under the influence of drugs, police say officers requested an ambulance.

Police say the man didn't comply with officers and a stun gun was used during his arrest. Police say he was conscious and uncooperative when he was placed in an ambulance. Police say the man suffered a medical emergency and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The man's identity hasn't been confirmed and police say an autopsy will be conducted to determine his cause of death.
