PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- A host of family members and friends said their final goodbyes to Rodney Todd and his seven children at a funeral service in Somerset County Saturday afternoon.

Family came from as far as Virginia Beach, Va. and western Maryland to the service hosted at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

"We all rendezvoused today and we made the trip from across the water," said Todd's cousin Gavin Milligan from Laurel, Md. "We all got together and we felt it was that important to come here."

Another Todd relative, Keith Camper, was overwhelmed by the amount of support shown by the community.

Bennie Smith Funeral Home helped the family cover the costs of the funeral arrangements and provided vehicle assistance.

"You got to commend the community for what they're doing. I mean, it's not every day that you put eight people in the ground. So our family, we're thankful," said Camper as he held back tears.

More than 1,000 people attended the funeral and most were family.

"We're just a close-knit family and when one hurts we all hurt," said Todd's cousin Virginia Camper of Cambridge.

Not all of the family members were as close to Todd as others.

But for Todd's great uncle Elsbur Todd, Sr., the pain cuts just as deep.

"I can't remember him too much because I think he was living out of town. But I was real familiar his mom. Anyway, I love him and love them all and [it's] just a terrible tragedy," said Todd's great uncle.

Todd's children were buried in Denton. It's the same town where his ex-wife and the children's mother currently lives in Caroline County.

DelDOT Proposes to Realign Old Orchard Road in Lewes

A new DelDOT project aims to address an area that's had over 100 crashes in the past ten years.

According to new design plans, DelDOT wants to realign Old Orchard Road to create a new, four-way intersection at the existing light at Savannah and Wescoats Roads. DelDOT engineer John Caruano says the project would cost $4 million in state funds, but solve multiple issues in the area.
