TOWSON, Md. (AP) - A man charged with trying to rape a 98-year-old woman has been found not guilty of that offense.

But a Baltimore County jury on Monday convicted 51-year-old Paul Earnest Howard Jr. of assault, burglary, theft and false imprisonment.

Prosecutors say on April 26, 2014, Howard went to the woman's home in Rodgers Forge and said he noticed a problem with her roof.

Authorities say Howard threw the woman to the ground, breaking her hip, and stole cash and blank checks from her.
