MILFORD, Del. - A Milford man was arrested last week for allegedly stealing a firearm from a home on East Street, according to police.

Milford Police say they responded to a home in the 400 block of East Street on the afternoon of April 14, after receiving a report of a burglary and theft of a firearm. While conducting the investigation, detectives say they received a separate report from another victim stating that the possible burglary suspect had been allowed to use a vehicle that he had yet to return as agreed upon.

Police say 26-year-old Matthew Gannon, Jr., of Milford, was arrested in the missing vehicle in New Castle County by the New Castle County Task Force. Police say Gannon was alter turned over to the custody of Milford Police.

Milford detectives say they continued the ongoing burglary investigation and received additional evidence that Gannon broke into the home and then removed a firearm. Gannon was charged with second degree burglary, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, theft of a firearm, criminal mischief under $1,000, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle as well as other traffic offenses. Gannon was committed to SCI in default of $21,000.00 secured bond.
