Gov. Hogan to Sign Nine Safety and Law Enforcement Bills Into Law

Posted:

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Gov. Larry Hogan is scheduled to sign into law nine bills dealing with public safety and law enforcement, including one that will require police to give information about in-custody deaths to a state office.

Hogan said Friday in a news release that some of the bills deal with the day-to-day operations of law enforcement officials.

Among the bills that Hogan will sign on Tuesday is HB 954, which will require law enforcement agencies to give the Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention information about deaths of anyone in police custody, and deaths of officers in the line of duty.

SB 413 will require police to record demographic information, including race, about traffic stops.

SB 482 and HB 533 will allow law enforcers to record verbal communications with body cameras.
