Pedestrian Killed by Amtrak Train in Delaware

CLAYMONT, Del. (AP) - A pedestrian has died after being hit by a high-speed Amtrak train in Delaware.

According to reports, an unidentified victim was struck by the Amtrak Acela Express train in Claymont Thursday afternoon.

An Amtrak spokesman says the crash involved southbound Train 2163, a high-speed train with 297 passengers bound from Boston to Washington, D.C. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Service was suspended through the evening rush hour.

The speed of the train at the time of the crash is unknown. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
