FREDERICA, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle.

It happened around 11:51 a.m. on Bay Road (US 113/SR 1) northbound on the Twin Bridges east of Frederica

Police say 59-year-old Kathleen Marcoline of Ohio was driving a Ford Focus in left lane on the Frederica Bridge. Police say she was slowing down as the traffic in front of her slowed.

According to Police, 60-year-old John Jakobowski of Lewes then struck the rear bumper of Marcoline's car. After impact, police say both Jakobowski and his passenger, 58-year-old Mary Ann Snyder of Milton, were ejected and thrown toward the west side of the road.

Jakobowski was transported to the Milford Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His female passenger was flown by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to Kent General Hospital and then later flown to the Christiana Hospital where she is listed in critical but stable condition. Police say both were wearing helmets. The driver of the Ford Focus, who was properly restrained, was not injured.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.

Both northbound and southbound lanes of US 113 in the area of the crash were closed for four hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
