Police ID Man Killed While Trying to Cross I-95


WILMINGTON, Del. (WBOC/AP)- Delaware State Police are identifying a man struck and killed while trying to walk across Interstate 95 in Wilmington.

Troopers said 35-year-old John Manista of Delaware City was trying to cross the highway's southbound lanes at around 12:18 a.m. Wednesday near Martin Luther King Boulevard when he was hit by a 2005 Chevrolet Ipala.

Police said Manista was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither the driver of the car, identified as 22-year-old Robin D. Hughes, of Wilmington, nor his 24-year-old male passenger, were hurt. 

The crash remains under investigation by the DSP Crash Reconstruction Unit.
