Frankford Man Charged after Driving into Tree

SHOWELL, Md.- A driver faces preliminary charges after crashing his vehicle into a tree Sunday night.

Maryland State Police say just before 10 p.m. Sunday, 51-year-old Timothy Hudson of Frankford, DE was driving northbound on Rt. 589 at Route 113 in Showell. Troopers say Hudson failed to navigate a sharp turn and traveled off the road, through a fence and stopped after hitting a tree.

State police say Hudson was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

During the investigation, a trooper detected an odor of alcohol coming from Hudson. State police say probable cause was developed to perform an arrest for DUI. Troopers say the driver was asked to submit a blood test. They say the results of that test are still pending.

State police say Hudson was charged preliminarily with DUI and DWI.
