Police: Argument Over Beer Leads to Assault with Baseball Bat

Posted: Updated:
SALISBURY, Md. - A Salisbury man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a neighbor with a baseball bat after an argument over beer, the Wicomico Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

Around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, a deputy responded to a reported assault in the 300 block of Brewington Avenue in Salisbury, police said. Upon arrival, the deputy said he identified a male victim who had reportedly been assaulted by a neighbor, 44-year-old Steven Michael Pappas.

During the investigation, deputies said they learned an argument took place over the victim not getting any more beer. Deputies said Pappas then began hitting the victim with a baseball bat, causing injuries. Deputies said the victim was transported to PRMC for treatment.

Pappas left the area prior to their arrival, but he arrested the following morning, deputies said. Following an initial court appearance, deputies said Pappas was detained in the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of $200,000 bond. Pappas is charged with first- and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment, police said.
