DOVER, Del.- Dover police have located and arrested the suspect in connection with an attempted homicide near Capital Green Apartments in Dover.

Dover Police say 25-year-old Rakim Strickland of Dover was arrested in Maryland.

According to police, officers arrived on scene the afternoon of May 15 and discovered a 19-year-old man injured by gunfire in his car.

The victim was transported to the Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where he was later flown to Christiana Hospital for further treatment.

Officers originally believed they had the suspect held up in one of the apartment buildings after the shooting. Nearby buildings, including South Dover Elementary School, were put on lockdown. However, police say they did a sweep of the building Friday afternoon, and the suspect was not there.

Strickland was wanted on the following charges: Attempted Murder (1st Degree), Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony, Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited, Possession of Ammo by Person Prohibited, Trespass 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief

Police ask anyone with knowledge of Strickland's whereabouts to call 9-1-1 immediately.
