DOVER, Del. - A criminal trial for the man kicked unconscious by a Dover police officer has been postponed for a month.

The Delaware Department of Justice says 30-year-old Lateef A. Dickerson was supposed to appear in Superior Court in Wilmington Tuesday morning, but a state prosecutor asked for a continuance to have time to complete a DNA lab report.

Officials say the trial is now scheduled for June 16.

The Department of Justice says Dickerson is accused of storing firearms stolen during a burglary in Maryland in a shed on Fields Terrace in Middletown. Dickerson is charged with two counts each of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person and receiving a stolen firearm, and one count of second-degree conspiracy. The Department of Justice says Dickerson faces 30 years to life in prison if convicted.

Dickerson got a lot of attention after an un-related incident on August 24, 2013 was caught on camera when a Dover Police Officer was seen kicking him in the head. The Dover Police Department released the dashboard camera footage earlier this month.
