Suspect Sought in Attempted Robbery Near Millsboro

Posted:

MILLSBORO, Del.- Delaware State Police are looking for a suspect wanted for holding up a convenience store in the Oak Orchard area of Millsboro.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday. Troopers said a male suspect entered the Shore Stop, located at 31507 Oak Orchard Road, confronted a 75-year-old female employee with a handgun and demanded money from the cash register. Police said after the clerk informed the suspect that there was no money in the register, he pushed the woman aside and attempted to open the till. Investigators said the victim then ran from the counter to a back door where she yelled into the kitchen for help. The suspect then fled the store without any money in a southerly direction on Oak Orchard Road, according to police.

The clerk was not injured in the incident, troopers said.

Police said the suspect was additionally described as a male, between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-tall, and weighed approximately 160-180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black glasses and with a gray shirt covering his face. There was no further physical or clothing description available. No video surveillance footage is available at this time, police said.

Anyone with additional information about this incident is asked to contact the DSP Troop 4 Major Crimes Unit at (302) 856-5850. Information can also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, via www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com, or by sending an anonymous tip by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword "DSP."
