RICHMOND, Va. (AP)- Richmond International Airport has broken its passenger traffic record for April.

More than 300,000 passengers used the airport in April. The previous record for the month was 298,209 passengers in April 2007.

Passenger traffic was up by more than 6 percent through the first 10 months of the fiscal year compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. The airport's fiscal year ends June 30.

Air cargo declined by about 1 percent to 9.62 million pounds in April, compared with the same month a year ago.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1KofF1M ) reports that the figures were presented to the Capital Region Airport Commission at its meeting on Tuesday.
